At Lee Elementary School teachers are using The Eagle in their classrooms to teach kids about severe weather, informational writing and to link the lessons they learn back to real life situations. We visited to talk with some 3rd and 5th graders to get a firsthand look and to aks some students some questions.
Maddison and Mauro spoke to us about their informational writing assignment using Paul Duhon’s extensive World of Wonder collection. A new World of Wonder is printed in every Sunday’s edition, along with the comics and other interesting stuff for our younger readers.
It’s clear from time there that The Berkshire Eagle is a valuable tool for learning, both inside and outside the classroom. These young members of our community, though they might not realize it yet, are making connections between abstract concepts that they learn about and things happening in their families, on their street, in their school and in their town.
